Foster cat, Hamster, continues to be a nice "big brother" to the little ones. He has enjoyed sitting on top of the bed and watching the kittens playing on the floor. Several times, Sylvester and Sneakers have climbed up on the bed and have attempted to play with Hamster's tail, but that is short lived because we do not want any "arguments" between the big brother and his smaller "siblings". However, it is fun to watch the kittens grow in their confidence in approaching the "big cat".
The kittens will go in this week for a recheck at Charleston Animal Society. They are doing so well, and according to our scales at home they are well over a pound each (Sneakers was almost a pound and a half). They have good appetites, but very different. Sneakers likes to eat for long periods of time while Sylvester is more a of nibbler. They will both communicate with each other when eating, growls are not unheard of and Sylvester is known to use one of his front paws to place it on Sneaker's head to push him away and back to his own bowl. Once meal times are over, they will clean themselves and enjoy some petting (while they will purr for us).
While talking about meal times, we can't forget to talk about Hamster. He continues to enjoy his grain-free diet, but it is obvious he would rather have the kittens' food (we now must keep the bedroom door closed rather than gating at the door). His favorite treat continues to be dried bonito flakes - yummy to him. While he is still somewhat of a social eater, it isn't as often that I must sit on the floor with him to get him to eat. He's such a social guy and would love to squeeze his way into someone's life.
