Meet Henry!

Henry was picked up by a concerned citizen from the streets in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, during Hurricane Matthew evacuation in early October 2016.  He was driven to Greenville, South Carolina, and subsequently surrendered to Greenville County Animal Care.  The shelter posted his photo and their brief knowledge of him on Facebook's Lost and Found Pets - Mount Pleasant in hopes his owner would see the post and be able to make contact to claim him, even though he was three hours away.

It was that posting that began Henry's return to Charleston County, South Carolina.  The frenzy began and Henry was "adopted" by a concerned citizen who lives in Charleston who would be going to the Greenville area within a matter of days.  This individual contacted the shelter to inquire about the young cat and advised the organization she would be there to get him over the weekend.

Meanwhile, contact was made with Pet Helpers on Folly Road in Charleston, South Carolina, and they agreed to accept the cat once he was transported back to the area.  Greenville County Animal Care neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped him before release, and back to the coast he returned.

His rescuer named him "Henry" and fostered him for several days until his intake date at Pet Helpers.  She found Henry to be loving, playful, and an enjoyable cat to have around.  She fell in love, but could not adopt Henry herself and knew Pet Helpers would find a nice forever family for him.  See his photos below that were shared with Adopt Charleston Cats - how can you say no to this furbaby?

He is currently available for adoption from Pet Helpers - fully vetted and ready to cuddle.

Adopt Charleston Cats highlights some of the cats and kittens currently in the care of Charleston Animal Society, Dorchester Paws, Pet Helpers, and Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary located in the Lowcountry of, South Carolina. More are available for adoption, but we will show a few that are either on an adoption floor, Pounce Cat Cafe + Wine Bar, available for adoption from their foster home, or soon to be available for adoption. We also highlight adoptable felines available through individuals (primarily rescuers/TNR) and these animals are fully vetted. Periodically, we will also highlight kittens and cats available for adoption through agencies from surrounding counties.
Please consider adoption by visiting each facilities' website to learn how you can visit and meet your next furry friend or contact us to be connected to a rescuer.
