brought to you by Charleston Animal Society
Male
Foster Family: DEW
CAS Intake # 8046a
First, before you 'meet' Moe, let's explain a question you may have before you read further to learn more about this kitten. Are you asking yourself, "What is an Adoption Ambassador?" Adoption Ambassador is a foster program used by Charleston Animal Society where foster families take animals into their homes and try to get them adopted; the adoption takes place outside of the shelter environment and is processed by the foster parent on CAS's behalf.

Moe is estimated to have been born on October 3, 2016. He was part of a feral litter and taken to St. Frances Animal Shelter in Georgetown, South Carolina. While in the care of the Georgetown shelter he was fostered by one of their veterinarians who loved him so much, she decided to ask to transfer him to Charleston Animal Society where he could be placed in their successful foster program. On November 17, his foster mom brought him to Charleston and on the same day, he was placed into his foster home where he remains today.
Moe (nicknamed "Mo Mo") is a very active and playful kitten. Once his energy has been worn down, he can be a loving and cuddly kitty. Moe has been diagnosed with a condition that affects his movements called cerebellar hypoplasia (also known as "CH Kitty" or "Wobbly Kitty Syndrome"). He doesn't understand he has this condition and his CH doesn't stop him from enjoying his many cat toys, stuffed animals, and visiting cats, current foster cat, and he has even enjoyed playing with a visiting dog's wagging tail. Moe can play for long periods of time chasing a cat wand toy and this has become his nightly play therapy before going to bed every night. His condition is lifelong, but CH kitties can improve as they age while their body and brain learn to cope with the abnormal movements they experience. He has made progress while in foster care, and we expect he will continue making progress with improvements visible every week. CH cats live a normal life expectancy, but they do often need environmental accommodations to prevent injury should they fall. Moe's foster mom will be happy to discuss with potential adopters how she has modified his living space to keep him safe. If you want to learn about CH and/or desiring to adopt an extremely sweet, special needs kitty, please contact the below.
