First, let's explain a question you may have before you read further to learn more about Sherbet.  Are you asking yourself, "What is an Adoption Ambassador?"  Adoption Ambassador is a foster program used by Charleston Animal Society where foster families take animals into their homes and try to get them adopted; the adoption takes place outside of the shelter environment and is processed by the foster parent on CAS's behalf.

Hi, my name is Sherbet (sometimes my foster dad calls me Ice Cream). I entered foster care with my brother on June 15, 2016, and while living in a home my brother and I have learned that humans can be kind and loving.  You see, when we were first brought to Charleston Animal Society, we were feral kittens and didn't know if we could trust humans.  The nice folks at the shelter made sure we were safe and our foster parents have taught us all about love and kindness.  Now my brother and I are ready to find our forever family.  Let me tell you a little more about myself...

One of my favorite things to do is play.  I love to play - I play with toys of all sorts, I play with my brother, and I play with my foster parents. I also have always had a good appetite and have grown to be 2.5 pounds in less than two months.  My foster mom thinks I may be a larger adult cat because I also have some big paws for being a little kitten.  While I am also a great napping cat, it's because I need as much sleep as I can so I continue to grow big and strong.

It would be great if I could be adopted with my brother because we really do comfort each other when we get a little scared of new things.  Don't get me wrong, we've come a long way but sometimes we do still run and hide for a few minutes when we have new things happen around us.  Give us a few minutes, and we'll warm up and let you enjoy us.  After all, we were all alone in the big world and have only had human contact for several weeks - we've are no longer considered feral or anti-social as we love the humans we have come to trust, but we would appreciate adoptive parents who understand we still need to know humans are loving to animals because sometimes we still do get a little afraid and hide.

Would you like to come and meet me?  You can contact Courtney, the Director of Adoptions at Charleston Animal Society at cgumienny@charlestonanimalsociety.org or 843-329-1577 to inquire about me or contact Adopt Charleston Cats (our foster mom runs this website) and let her know you are interested.  She will work with you to find a mutually agreeable time to come visit and share your love with me.  Thank you!

Charleston Animal Society adoption fee includes:  Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Dewormed, Flea Prevention, current on vaccinations, a free wellness visit to many local veterinarians, and more!

Adopt Charleston Cats highlights some of the cats and kittens currently in the care of Charleston Animal Society, Dorchester Paws, Pet Helpers, and Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary located in the Lowcountry of, South Carolina. More are available for adoption, but we will show a few that are either on an adoption floor, Pounce Cat Cafe + Wine Bar, available for adoption from their foster home, or soon to be available for adoption. We also highlight adoptable felines available through individuals (primarily rescuers/TNR) and these animals are fully vetted. Periodically, we will also highlight kittens and cats available for adoption through agencies from surrounding counties.
Please consider adoption by visiting each facilities' website to learn how you can visit and meet your next furry friend or contact us to be connected to a rescuer.
Thank you for looking.
